Marco V
Marco V’s name is already cast indelibly in dance music history, mention the V-Man to any DJ, producer or fan of tough 4/4 beats and the word genius will inevitably spring from their mouth. There are few producers who have done more than him to influence and shape the sound of dancefloors in the last decade, no one that delivers club bombs more consistently than Marco V. From classic anthems like ‘Indicator’, ‘Simulated’ and ‘Godd’ through to present day floorfillers such as ‘Second Bite’, ‘More Than A Life Away’ and ‘Red Blue Purple’ and his reverential and massively successful updates of classics such as ‘Café Del Mar’ and ‘Loops & Tings Relooped’ his discography is the envy of anyone. On the decks he holds masterful control of the crowd with a style that is impossible to categorize, incorporating anything from fierce electro to driving techno. Travel the globe and you’ll be hard pushed find a major club that hasn’t felt his force.

2007 does not find the Dutch powerhouse resting on his laurels. First up is the release of the third in his critically acclaimed and top selling mix series Combi:nations at the end of May. These are the perfect showcase of the entire spectrum of the Marco V sound, and in Combi:nations3 we see another change in style. The last collective of music came in the form of a Main room CD and a Back room CD, demonstrating two sides to Marco V. This new assortment of tracks comes as ever in a 2 CD package, entitled ‘Before’, and ‘After’. In describing it, Marco’s says “Imagine going to an outdoor festival, dancing all day and then going home for a chill out”... we needn’t say anymore. Expect an eclectic mix of quality dancefloor sounds, selected with care and his usual exceptional ear for quality and of course mixed down with impeccable skill.

Gig wise, 2007 is as packed and as huge as ever for Marco V. He headlines his own tent at Dance Valley in Amsterdam on July 14th where he has been involved from start to finish in both the visual process and line-up selection. If you have ever been to one of his parties you’ll know he takes as much care in his production values as his music so expect something truly special. As always, he’ll dominate Ibiza over the summer holding residencies at Cream Amnesia and Judgement Sundays at Eden as well as spinning at Robbie Rivera’s Juicy night on the Amnesia terrace. In the UK he tied up with Creamfields, Gatecrasher Summer Soundsystem and both London and Cardiff legs of South West 4 whilst over in his native Holland he will be hosting a series of unmissable beach parties.

Whenever he’s not jetting over the world he is beavering away in the studio with a prolific production output with staggering consistency. One of the most sought after remixers in the business, Marco V constantly re-invents his sound thus keeping him at the forefront of dance music whilst inspiring thousands of others. His latest release ‘Possible But Unlikely/Universal Enemy’ is tearing up dancefloors with the usual suspects all over it and as always stamped with his impeccable quality. Work is already underway on the follow up to his hugely successful ‘200V’ album that will be no doubt be one of the most anticipated releases of the year.

He also runs his own label In Charge, mainly as a showcase for his own productions but also leaving room for quality records that fit the V-sound with big hits from the likes of DJ Delicious, Jody Wisternoff and Phatzoo over the past 12 months.

Whilst inspiring new producers, he has also been described as the DJ’s DJ with many of his colleagues closing following what he plays as one of the leading trend-setters in dance. His position cemented in the DJ Mag Top 100 Top 20 reflects the respect and adoration he has gained, whilst producing underground anthems see him on the Radio 1 playlist time and time again. With his own distinguished style, often imitated but never bettered, and an undimmed passion for music, Marco V is one of dance music’s frontrunners, and it will only continue.
